Age of Blocks is now Cradlecrown
Age of Blocks is now called Cradlecrown. The game itself is unchanged; the name, crest and website are new.
Age of Blocks has a new name: Cradlecrown. Nothing about the game itself has changed. Same 65 civilizations, same units, same valley. Only the name, the crest and the address are new.
Why
There’s already a game on Steam with the same name. It’s also a real-time strategy game, and it was announced before mine. I’d like to bring this game to Steam one day, and two games sharing a name would confuse players and wouldn’t be fair to the other developer. Changing it now, while it’s still early, seemed like the clean thing to do.
Where the name comes from
It’s a nod to “the cradle of civilization”. Every people in the game starts out as a small village, grows through the ages and eventually earns its crown. From cradle to crown, basically.
The crest
The new crest is a crown rising out of a crescent-shaped cradle, set in a bronze-rimmed shield. I drew it with the same earthy colours and fine outline as the painted miniatures in the game. You’ll see it in the main menu, in the browser tab and on share images.

- Social: cradlecrown or playcradlecrown on X, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Reddit
The old address will keep redirecting to the new one for a while.
What it means for players
Browsers store settings and saves per address. So the first time you open the game at the new address, your language, sound and display settings will be back to their defaults, and a single-player match saved at the old address won’t come with you. Sorry about that; you only need to set things up once.
The earlier release notes are staying put, and they’ll keep showing up in the game’s news.
From cradle to crown. Have fun.
